MATT BLACK X GANA ART

Gana Art is pleased to present ≪Reflections≫, representing the contemporary art scene with 34 artists including Brian Calvin, Gary Simmons, George Condo, KAWS, Rashid Johnson, and Sterling Ruby. In collaboration with filmmaker and curator, Matt Black, this exhibition is centered around his film titled “Reflections.” Through his interviews with Taryn Simon, Robert Longo, Jeff Koons, and more, Matt Black demonstrates the rapidly changing trend of the contemporary art scene and successfully draws honest stories behind their artworks. Following the film’s theme, Gana Art has curated this exhibition to feature works by worldly renowned artists not only from the international realm, but also from Korea, highlighting the whole art scene. In our efforts to expand and widen perspectives, the exhibition also includes Korean artists who are nevertheless promising such as Back Seungwoo, Eddie Kang, and Hur Shan. Gana Art is hopeful that this exhibition will be reflective of the contemporary art scene as well as be representative of each artist’s unique point of view, furthering the conversation and discussion in the art scene.

가나아트는 동시대 미술 현장을 대표하는 34명의 작가들이 참가하는 ≪Reflections≫전을 개최한다. 본 전시는 영상 제작자이자 큐레이터인 맷 블랙(Matt Black)과의 협업을 통해 기획되었으며, 그가 제작한 동명의 영상, “Reflections”의 연장선상에 있다. 맷 블랙은 태린 사이먼(Taryn Simon), 데미안 허스트(Damien Hirst), 제프 쿤스(Jeff Koons) 등의 작가들과의 인터뷰를 담은 영상을 통해 첨예하게 격변하는 동시대 미술의 흐름을 짚고 그 흐름의 중심에 있는 작가들의 진솔한 이야기를 끌어냈다. 가나아트는 이를 기반으로 작가군을 확장시켜 세계적인 작가들의 작품을 국내에 소개하는 본 전시를 기획하였으며, 백승우, 에디강, 허산과 같은 국내 유망 작가들의 작품 또한 함께 전시하여 국내외 미술계를 전체적으로 조망하고자 한다. 이로써 이 전시는 전시명의 의미와 같이 현 시대 미술에 대한 반영인 동시에 각각의 작가들의 독특한 조형 언어를 감상할 수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것이라 기대한다.
